Myriad memories flood my mind when thinking about the weddings we've catered for; each one is just
so special and unique. On this occasion, I'd love to share with you the Sinclair's wedding.
Rosemary & Phoenix got married in November, 2006. We spoke at length during the menu tasting, and
common things began to emerge: they loved pears, their favorite color was chocolate, and that they
sought an intimate reception. We visited the venue, and it proffered warm, earthy tones, and
an invitingly cozy, stone fireplace -which would not only complement their favorite color, but the
hearth afforded the subtle touch of intimacy they preferred. As the wedding date approached, the
formerly amorphous pieces of the initially daunting puzzle took tangible and friendly form, and our
collective excitement level grew close to bursting! All details were coming to place, from
centerpieces, to favors, to decorations and all sorts of accents that would add that quintessential
touch to their big day.
The
focus of one of our last meetings was the cake tasting, at the international award winning Montclair
Bakery. The flavor were whimsical, and the cake was custom designed from beginning to end; when her
final creation was unveiled, we were awestruck! A white, square tower cake had been filled with
layers of fresh fruits and artisan marmalades and syrups, then delicately garnished with roses,
hand-shaped white chocolate pears and a crown of chocolate embossing.
The
night before the reception, a heavy rain threatened to dampen spirits; however, the next morning's
clearing revealed a crystal cyan which bestilled our hearts. Back at the venue, seeing Rosemary and
Phoenix's faces upon initial impression was indelibly and fondly received. The reception was a
thorough success and, in spite of our physical exhaustion, we were emotionally uplifted.
That connection you form with the marrying couple is also quite special, and in a way it's a bond
that lasts a long time. Up to this day, we are still in contact with the Sinclairs, and it's
heartwarming to see how their love story develops... especially after the birth of their first
daughter, Isabella, a beautiful little girl that has her mother's smile and dad's eyes.
Congratulations, Rosemary & Phoenix, and thank you dearly for allowing me to be part of such
treasured moments of your life!
